It's been a crazy few weeks for me but hopefully I'll be back on track soon. Ive got an extra side project in the works that I think you guys are going to like. More on that later.

For today, I hope you like the page.

Man... that last question is kind of a downer...

Of course, you did warn us ahead of time that it could get a little dark...

At any rate, well done!

If you ask a question you should be prepared for the response.

Did I imply it was only going to get a little dark?

I should clarify. The Maya felt honored to offer their still beating hearts to the ravenous Lords of Xibalba. Nobody has fed them properly in just under five hundred years. It will get really dark. Then it will get darker. A lot darker.

At the end of this scene I'll be posting a warning page advising squeamish folks to unsubscribe. Fair warning and all.

Well, I'm going to stay subscribed. I'm always down for modern interpretations of mythology, and will have a bit of that in Autumn Bay, and I am many things, but not squeamish...

Also, you've hooked me with this story. Very moody, and a bit... off. I mean that in a good way!

it's on of my favorite things to ask when people pose the question. It's quite a leap of faith to assume there's meaning behind life itself.

Gods are seldom revered for their bedside manner.

yeah, there isn't a scenario where that would go well for someone licking him.

Ahh the frog has no meaning to it's life. We should kill the frog for supper.

Chac has probably been thinking about the nature of "meaning" for a long time. Things mean less when you've almost run out of things to win.

Either way, Ii don't think he'd make much of a meal, aside from the poison, he's about the size of a quarter.

Hey! Who decided there has to be a meaning?!!

Chac is rather partial to the platonic method.

Ouch.
Perhaps, one's life is its own meaning? ;)

view Sleeper's profile

Or perhaps "meaning" is a subjective concept and Gods don't think of humans as individuals with lives of their own.

Or, maybe he's just trying to shock her.

I like your interpretation.

Time may tell.

I do wonder what the significance of the parallel story going on in the past is all about. I can't wait to see more of that.

The ballad of Teo serves four functions:
1) To balance out the general lack of action in Dara's scenes.

2) To show you what the journey and Xibalba was originally like. 500 years is a long time, even for the Lords of Xibalba.

3&4) Will remain a mystery until the latter half of the story.
